Your CAP and
Your Doctor —
Genuinely Changeable
You now have your TSI. This post covers what happens next — finding out which CAP and doctor you've been assigned, and what your genuine options are if that assignment isn't a good fit.
Finding Out Which CAP You're Assigned To
Your CAP assignment was genuinely determined during your TSI application (Post #2), based on your empadronamiento address. You can confirm exactly which center and doctor you've been assigned to on your TSI card itself, through La Meva Salut, or by calling 061.
Making the Most of Your First Appointment
Genuinely useful — it means your GP already has a baseline understanding of you before there's an urgent issue, and you're not meeting them for the first time during a stressful moment.
Any records from India or elsewhere — genuinely helpful context for your new GP, even informally summarized.
Many CAPs genuinely have some multilingual capacity or can arrange translation support — worth asking directly rather than assuming it's not available.
Requesting a Different Doctor or CAP
If your assigned doctor or center genuinely isn't a good fit for you — for any reason — you can request a change. This is handled directly at your CAP's admission desk, or through La Meva Salut. Changing your doctor within the same CAP is generally more straightforward; changing to a different CAP entirely genuinely depends on availability at your preferred center.
A change to a CAP outside your genuine catchment area (based on where you actually live) may not always be approved, since the system is designed around geographic assignment — but within your own CAP, requesting a different doctor is generally much more straightforward.
Genuinely not true — this post's headline fact and Section 3 cover your real options.
Genuinely worth an early introductory visit instead, per Section 2.
Genuinely worth doing promptly, since your assignment is address-based.
Share it with the community.
Real, current experiences genuinely help everyone else navigate this faster.
