These 10 jobs share three things: you can realistically start within weeks, no university degree is required, and every one of them is genuine, legally recognised work in Spain — not informal cash-in-hand arrangements that leave you unprotected.
Pay ranges below are honest estimates based on Spain's 2026 minimum wage (€1,221/month, 14 payments, for full-time work) and typical sector rates — actual pay varies by company, hours, and collective agreement (convenio).
Construction / General Labourer
Barcelona has genuine ongoing construction activity — residential renovation, commercial buildouts, infrastructure. Entry-level labourer roles (peón de construcción) generally don't require Spanish fluency to start, though basic safety-term vocabulary helps quickly. Look through construction company listings on InfoJobs, or ask directly at active sites — a surprising amount of hiring still happens this way.
Warehouse & Logistics
Amazon, Mercadona, and various logistics operators run large distribution centres around Barcelona's outskirts — genuine, structured employment with shift options that can work around family or other commitments. Apply directly through company career pages; these roles move through formal HR processes, not informal hiring.
Food Delivery (as an actual employee)
Important update most people miss: since 2021's "Ley Rider," and Glovo's own shift to formal employment in December 2024, delivery riders in Spain are legally employees with real contracts, sick leave, and paid holidays — not informal freelancers. This means genuine onboarding through the platform's official hiring process, with real protections attached, rather than simply downloading an app and starting. Avoid any offer involving a "rented" or shared rider account — this is explicitly illegal and puts you at real risk.
Hospitality: Kitchen & Cleaning Staff
Barcelona's huge restaurant and hotel sector constantly needs kitchen porters (pinche de cocina), dishwashers, and cleaning staff — genuinely accessible entry points with minimal language barrier. Walking in and asking directly at restaurants (especially during off-peak hours) remains a real, effective method here, alongside InfoJobs and Indeed listings.
Moving & Removals (Mudanzas)
Removals companies (empresas de mudanzas) hire regularly, and the physical nature of the work often pays a premium over minimum wage. A genuinely good option for anyone with real physical stamina and no specific trade background needed to start.
Office & Commercial Cleaning
Cleaning companies (empresas de limpieza) service offices, shops, and commercial buildings, typically outside business hours — early morning or evening shifts that can combine well with another job or family responsibilities. Low barrier to entry, consistent demand.
Domestic Help & Elderly Care
Spain's ageing population means genuine, growing demand for elderly care and home help — household employment (empleados del hogar) has its own specific legal minimum wage of €9.55/hour effective worked as of 2026. Agencies specialising in home care placements are a more reliable starting point than informal word-of-mouth arrangements, since they handle proper contracts.
Car Wash & Valet Services
A genuinely low-barrier entry point — car wash and valet operations across the city hire regularly, minimal Spanish needed, and it's a common, well-understood first job for newcomers building initial local work history and references.
Landscaping & Gardening (Jardinería)
Municipal parks, private gardens, and landscaping companies across greater Barcelona hire seasonally, particularly through spring and summer. Physical outdoor work with genuine demand, especially for anyone with actual prior agricultural or gardening experience from India.
Retail Stock & Warehouse Assistant (Reponedor)
Supermarkets and larger retail chains constantly need shelf-stocking and inventory staff (reponedores), frequently in early-morning shifts before stores open — genuinely accessible with minimal Spanish, and a common stepping stone toward other retail roles over time.
No Social Security contributions, no employment history, no protection if you're injured or unpaid — and it can genuinely complicate future visa renewals since it shows no formal work record. Insist on a proper contract, even for entry-level work.
This remains a real practice in the community despite being explicitly illegal and leaving you with no rights, no protection, and real legal risk if discovered.
It's illegal regardless of the amount, and normalising it — even for yourself short-term — makes it harder for the whole community to push back on exploitative employers.
