Ganesh Puja 2026 in Santa Coloma de Gramenet
A neighbourhood Ganesh Puja, on the festival's actual date. Ganpati Bappa Morya! 🙏
Not every Ganesh celebration in Barcelona is the big one. Tucked into Santa Coloma de Gramenet — a separate municipality just north of the city, across the Besòs from Sant Andreu — a local Hindu Festival Organization is hosting its own Ganesh Puja on Monday, 14 September 2026: the actual date of Ganesh Chaturthi this year, not a weekend moved to suit the calendar.
Here's everything printed on the official flyer, and — just as honestly — everything it doesn't tell us. This is a much smaller, more locally-run gathering than the larger Barcelona Ganesh Utsav in Sarrià on 19 September, organised separately by Maharashtra Mandal Spain. If you were looking for that one instead, that's the link — the two are unrelated events on different dates in different parts of the city.
Quick facts
Getting there
Santa Coloma de Gramenet is its own municipality bordering Barcelona to the north, across the Besòs river from Sant Andreu. It's reachable by Barcelona Metro L1 (Santa Coloma or Fondo stations) or L9 Nord — Carrer del Doctor Pagès sits within the town itself, not directly next to either station.
What to expect
- It's a puja, not a full-day festival programme. The flyer describes it simply as a celebration of Ganesh Puja starting at 11 AM — there's no listed schedule of separate sessions, performances, or a stated end time.
- Come as you are, or dress festively. Nothing on the flyer specifies a dress code either way.
- Arrive close to 11 AM if you want to be there from the start rather than walking in mid-puja.
- Entry is free and the flyer lists no registration step — this reads as an open, walk-in community gathering rather than a ticketed or members-only event.

Frequently asked questions
Who is organising this Ganesh Puja?
The flyer credits the "Hindu Festival Organization, Santa Coloma de Gramenet" as the host. We have not found an independent website or social page for this group — it appears to be a local, community-run effort. Catalunyaar is sharing the flyer details as a community service and is not the organiser.
Is this the same event as the Barcelona Ganesh Utsav in Sarrià?
No. That's a separate, larger event organised by Maharashtra Mandal Spain on Saturday, 19 September at El Glop in Sarrià–Sant Gervasi. This Santa Coloma de Gramenet Ganesh Puja is a different, independently organised gathering on Monday, 14 September, in a different part of the metro area. See our guide to the Sarrià event here.
Is there an entry fee or do I need to register?
No fee and no registration process are listed on the official flyer. It reads as a free, open, walk-in community celebration.
Why is this Ganesh Puja on 14 September and the Sarrià one on 19 September?
14 September 2026 is Ganesh Chaturthi itself on the Hindu calendar. This Santa Coloma de Gramenet puja is held on that actual date. The larger Sarrià event has moved its public celebration to the nearest Saturday (19 September) so more working families can attend — both are common, valid approaches diaspora communities take.
Is this open to anyone, or a specific community?
The flyer's wording ("we warmly invite you to join us") reads as an open community invitation, but this isn't explicitly spelled out. If you're not sure you'd be welcome as a first-timer, a quick call to the organiser contact above is the safest way to check.
