Biography
My name is Noveprit Singh Kaur (Manu Kaur). I was born in Calella, Barcelona, although my origins are from Punjab, India, from where my parents emigrated to Barcelona in the 90s.
I am a graduate in Tourism, an Official Tourist Guide in Catalonia, and a qualified civil, commercial and family mediator. In addition, I am actively involved in helping the integration of migrants.
I am the author of the work El mite i la realitat de les dones de l’Índia, I consider myself an enterprising woman, always wanting to compete with myself, to surpass myself, to achieve more without limits. This is my first book.
– Why did I decide to write the book?
Because it deals with issues that have always been present in my life, it has been a way to share my knowledge and experiences.
– When did I decide to write the book?
During the covid pandemic, I had a lot of free time, although I had the idea to write for years.
– What is the book about?
It is about two generations, starting with a migrant woman, who leaves her home country, to a teenager born in the western country who is confronted with cultural clashes.
– Why this title?
Because I believe that within one world, there are many worlds. On the other hand Kaur means princess, lioness, common name of all Sikh women, I wanted to dedicate it to all women.
– Could you describe the cover?
A young woman with two different outfits, one of traditional origin and the other modern, I want to represent that appearance is deceiving, since the inside doesn’t change, whether you dress in one way or another, among other details.
– Is it based on fact or fiction?
A large percentage is based on reality.
– What does your family think of the book?
They are proud of what I have achieved, very happy.
– Now that it has been published for a while… How has the book been received?
People are receiving it positively and with a lot of curiosity.
– Where can I get the book?
Directly, contacting on social networks, instagram: @losmundosdekaur and Facebook: Los mundos de Kaur and Amazon
– Do you plan to continue writing?
At the moment I want to give maximum visibility to this book, but I don’t rule it out in the future.
