ENTRY Bring family,
bring friends
Barcelona's Gujarati community is taking Navratri out of living rooms and into the park. On night seven, Jay Garvi Gujarat opens the evening with a Shobhayatra down Carrer de Menorca, then keeps the dhol going until midnight.
How the evening unfolds
- 18:00Gather on Carrer de MenorcaArrive a little early at number 44, find your group and get your dandiya sticks out of the bag.
- 18:15Shobhayatra sets offA festive procession carries Maa Amba's blessings down the street towards the park. It's the part most Navratri nights abroad skip, so don't miss it.
- 19:00Garba beginsThe first rounds start slow and devotional: two-taali, three-taali, and the circle quietly building.
- 21:00Dandiya takes overSticks up, partners rotating, tempo rising. Expect the loudest hour of the night.
- 24:00Last roundThe final circle and aarti. Metro L2 runs all night on Saturdays, so there's no rush home.
Only the 18:15 start and the 19:00–24:00 window come from the organiser. The times in between are a rough guide to how these nights usually flow.
From Carrer de Menorca to the park
This is the easy part: the procession start and the venue are on the same street. The park's official address is Carrer de Menorca 64, so the Shobhayatra is a short, flat walk through Sant Martí de Provençals.

Dress code: Indian traditional wear
The organisers have asked for traditional wear, and this is the night to go all out. Think colour, mirror-work and jingling jewellery.
Chaniya choli with a dupatta pinned securely. Oxidised jhumkas and bangles complete the look.
Kediyu and dhoti, or a kurta-pyjama, a bright bandhani safa or a stole. Comfortable mojaris win.
Before you leave home
The dancing is on grass and paths, so skip the heels. October nights in Barcelona turn cool after sunset, so bring a light shawl. Pack your own dandiya sticks, and a water bottle for five hours in the circle.
Questions people are asking

Can I come if I've never done garba or dandiya?
