Ten neighbourhood Festes Majors, a free weekend on Montjuïc, Sitges horror films, Girona theatre and a Gandhi Jayanti concert in Sants. Navratri starts on Sunday 11th.
Weather note: heavy rain was forecast for Barcelona at the start of October, and at least one outdoor event this weekend (Soundit at La Monumental) has already been cancelled. Check the organiser's page before you go to anything outdoors.
Ten Barcelona neighbourhood festivals overlap this week. Expect correfocs (fire runs), gegants (giant figures), havaneres and shared meals in the street. Most activities are free.

Tickets →Girona's big performing-arts festival runs all through October. This show, by Jordi Oriol and starring Joan Carreras, is a darkly funny play about uncertainty and grief. It's performed in Catalan, and tickets are going fast.

Hindustani vocalist Amol Nisal performs with Amit Mishra (tabla) and Anik Mishra (sarangi), alongside the Nupura Kathak Ensemble. Concert tickets are €13 for adults and €10 for children up to 8. The weekend's vocal, tabla and Kathak workshops are booked separately.
