Five neighbourhood and city festivals are live or kicking off across Barcelona this week — all free, all street-party energy.
Festa Major de Verdum
Popular meals, concerts and dance nights across Via Júlia and Plaça de Francesc Layret, with most activity concentrated over the weekend.

Barcelona’s biggest festival: castellers at Plaça Sant Jaume (24th, midday), the Via Laietana correfoc, giants parades, and the closing Piromusical fireworks at Montjuïc on the 27th. Guest city for 2026 is Shanghai. Hundreds of free BAM & Música Mercè concerts run alongside.

Maharashtra Mandal Spain's full-day celebration: Ganesh Sthapana at 1pm, antakshari and games at 3pm, a cultural programme at 5pm, and aarti & visarjan closing the day at 8pm. Open to the wider Indian community, free entry.

Spain Kannada Koota's Karnataka-tradition celebration honouring Goddess Gauri and Lord Ganesha together, the day after Ganesh Utsav at the same venue. Open to everyone, no membership needed. €22 adults, €11 children 5–12, free under 5 (payment by Bizum — contact organisers via Catalunyaar's guide for details).

The Association of Malayalees in Barcelona brings Kerala's harvest festival to the city: a full Sadhya feast on a banana leaf, pookalam flower carpets, traditional games and live performances. Open to all — €25 via Google Form, spot registrations on the day are limited.
